Taking products on their journey from being an idea in Mike’s head to a finished article landing in your hands is a mighty task.
For the first five years, he did it alone. But as the range of mods and accessories – and the demand for them – grew, it was too much for even a master of multitasking like Mike to handle. And frankly, he was tired of having to laugh at his own jokes in the workshop.
And so, Mike assembled his very own A-Team. A trusty squad of like-minded model miracle workers who work closely together to make it all happen. Here are the people that put in the hours to keep the Mike Lane machine rolling:

For the first five years, he did it alone. But as the range of mods and accessories – and the demand for them – grew, it was too much for even a master of multitasking like Mike to handle. And frankly, he was tired of having to laugh at his own jokes in the workshop.
And so, Mike assembled his very own A-Team. A trusty squad of like-minded model miracle workers who work closely together to make it all happen. Here are the people that put in the hours to keep the Mike Lane machine rolling:
Mike
The Modfather
Uncompromising in his quest for model perfection, Mike Lane is the mastermind of the operation and a self-professed 80s movies and TV fanatic. When he spots an opportunity to create something cool or finds a flaw that needs fixing, he makes it his mission. Mike’s the main man in his model family, having a hand in every stage of design, development and production. And he still loves the simple (and sometimes complicated) pleasure of building models as much as when he launched the business.
Becky
Production Ninja
Bex joined the team to turbo-boost the processing of orders. On production, she has a talent for crafting detail-perfect pieces to Mike’s exacting standards. And she’s a whirlwind on the workshop floor when she shifts into ‘Becky Prime’ mode, dispatching orders with speed and precision. Becky also keeps the workshop buzzing with her humour, specialising in frequent Michael Scott-inspired declarations of ‘That’s what she said!’ (which other fans of the US Office will understand).
Spikey
Electronics Wizard
The crew’s in-house electronics wizard, Spikey, develops ingenious electronic solutions, bringing Mike and the team’s designs and concepts to life. Programming with prowess and working wonders with circuitry, he brings an amazing added dimension to the team. Mike Lane subscribes to the idea that ‘things are only impossible until they’re not’. When it comes to electronics, things magically become possible once he gets Spikey on the case.

Emily
Workshop Hero
Highly creative, with a great eye for detail, Emily is the ideal person to have around in a model workshop. A force to be reckoned with on production duties, Emily’s talent with tweezers and patience with miniature parts are exemplary (overlooking the regular outbursts of ‘Why is everything so tiny?!’). And sharing Mike’s passion for the 1980s screen cars and characters is a big advantage when working with iconic models inspired by this era.
Suz
Support Ace
Suz is an all-round workshop wonder, hopping effortlessly between tasks to keep the Mike Lane machine well-oiled and the magic flowing. When she’s not crafting components or preparing orders, Suzanne is keeping our treasured customers content – catching urgent enquiries and valiantly upholding the workshop’s harmony and balance.
Jacob and Jamie
The Whizz Kids
Family means everything to Mike, so it’s a pleasure to see his two boys becoming involved in model building. These students of the scale model universe are their dad’s biggest supporters. Jacob even suggested Mike’s first ever mod (magnetic licence plates for the DeLorean Time Machine) when he was 7, while Jamie helped his dad build the first stages of KITT at the tender age of 2. And there’s nothing like the youthful enthusiasm of youngsters to remind us that the most important part about model making is the pure escapist fun of it.
