Designed for 1:8 scale models, but also suitable for other large-scale models such as the 1:6 Hot Toys and Blitzway models.

Installation instructions

Please refer to the step-by-step photos here on this page for additional installation guidance.

  1. Using a craft knife or scissors, carefully cut the tabs holding the ties into place. It’s best to only release individual ties as you need them, keeping the remaining ties safely protected on the frame.
  2. Using tweezers, dip the ties (individually as and when you need them) into the boiling water for 5 seconds or more. This will make the ties more flexible ahead of application. Dab dry the ties using paper towel before taking them to your model.
  3. Place the tie around the cables you to intend to detail, and feed the tail of the tie through the back of the head. You should be able to achieve this step with only your fingers, however it’s much easier with a good set of tweezers. For difficult to reach areas, loosely tie the cable tie further up the cable and slide into place before tightening.
  4. To tighten and secure the tie into place, first hold the head securely in place with some flat head tweezers, keeping the head at a 90-degree angle to the tail. Next, pull the tail of the tie through the head.
  5. Gluing the ties in place is optional but will offer a more permanent hold. A tiny dot of Loctite Super Glue placed in a discreet place behind each head before trimming is recommended, best applied using the tip of a cocktail stick.
  6. Lastly, trim the tail back using a good pair of scissors. For the most effective look, it’s best to leave some of the tail visible and not to cut too closely to the head.

Hero Collector U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701-D
2 x Black packs recommended – Great for lighting and power cable management. Small enough not to interfere with fitment of panels, strong enough to hold parts neatly and securely in place.

Quite possibly the smallest cables ties in the world – these tiny zip ties have been designed to look like the real thing and look great on scale models.

Now new and improved – these mini cable ties are even better than before, with 3D heads, longer tails for easier installation and even more detail.

They click and lock as you pull and hold small wires in place with style. Great for interior and exterior model detailing such as engine compartments, plus also useful for general cable management such as lighting and power cables etc.

These mini cable ties were originally designed as a mod for the 1:8 DeLorean Time Machine model by Eaglemoss. But they are equally suitable for modding any other 1:8 or other large scale model that would benefit from adding tiny zip ties, such as the 1:8 Ghostbusters Ecto-1 by Hero Collector, or the 1:6 Hot Toys DeLorean Time Machine

They are available in two colours – black and white.

What’s included:

  • 1 x Pack of 40 mini cable ties
  • Illustrated set of installation instructions

To fit these mini cable ties you will need:

  • A good pair of fine point tweezers – one to support the head and one to pull the tie through
  • Good eyesight, patience, and a steady hand
Tip: Gluing is totally optional but can provide a more permanent hold. A tiny dot of Loctite Super Glue placed in a discreet place behind each head is very effective, best applied using the tip of a cocktail stick.

Where do the cable ties go in the DeLorean Time Machine?

Here’s a collection of photos showing the exact location of all the cable ties (both black and white): http://bit.ly/cable-ties

Thank you to Todd at http://mybttfdelorean.com who was kind enough to snap and share these photos of the original DeLorean ‘A’ car itself on display at the Petersen Museum in Los Angeles, California.

Note: Given their micro scale, these cable tie mods are designed for cosmetic purposes only. They are intended for use in scale modelling projects and should therefore not be expected to perform as a traditional cable tie in larger scale applications.
All other model parts and accessories shown in the photos outside of the ‘What’s included’ list above are not included and are shown purely for demonstration and application purposes.

Outstanding little detail item. These are exceptionally well made the die cutting on these is superb they are held at the ends and each on is perfect and secure on the sheet. A joy to use these. I expected them to be very fiddley because of the small size but to be honest they are not too bad to handle. The "stem" end of the tie is firm enough to get through the eye in the tag end easily. It is also long enough to let go of it to get a new grip without undoing itself. While they are not really designed to be structural, they do in fact work well if you respect their limits. Great addition to my highly modified Agora Porsche 917 build. Will be looking for more of these very soon because they are so useful and add so much to the look.

This set of mini cable ties are my second set. They have proved to be such a great and wonderful detail to my DeLorean model. They give the model that extra special detail it needed other than what we get from Eaglemoss the this black wire and the large black wire ties. So thank you Mike Lane for being the person who notices this finer details not only for the DeLorean but all of the mods and models you do.

Tolles, professionelles Tool.

These cable ties are much more accurate in size and scale and will definitely give your Delorean a decidedly more realistic look. Please note these these are a bit fiddly as they are quite tiny and take a bit of practice and patience. I recommend a few minutes of meditation before working with these. It will help to get you in the "zone" and hopefully alleviate any frustration that may occur whilst working with them. Thanks Mike for another great mod.
