Flux Band Wires

Deliberately chunky and playful, these flux band wires have been created to give the Playmobil DeLorean some additional detail whilst retaining its unique character.
Unlike with my other mods, screen accuracy wasn’t the objective with this one. Instead, this accessory is intended to make Playmobil’s rendition of the DeLorean Time Machine look a little more familiar whilst being deliberately exaggerated, in keeping with the general design approach of this toy.
I love Playmobil’s take on the DeLorean Time Machine, and was delighted when they began rolling out their Back to the Future range of playsets.
Out of the box, the Playmobil DeLorean is a nicely produced, well executed toy which, for an 80s kid, put a huge smile on my face when I first saw it. But, for me, the exterior looked a little dull and seemed to be missing something. It needed a little more detail without going all out beast-mode on the screen accuracy. It is a toy after all!
Whilst of course not 100% screen-accurate, these deliberately chunky wires inject the additional colour and detail the exterior is so badly in need of, further adding to what is already an awesome toy.
Each set is handmade, super easy to fit and won’t damage the toy in any way. They simply wrap around the existing black tubing and tuck in behind the flux bands and pipe connectors. Likewise, they can be easily removed if required.
What’s included:
- 1 x Long length for the rear of the car
- 4 x Short lengths for the sides of the car
- 1 x Metallic barcode licence plate sticker designed specifically to fit this model
All other model parts and accessories shown in the photos outside of the ‘What’s included’ list above are not included and are shown purely for demonstration and application purposes.

Playmobil really made a great version of the Delorean, but clearly missed a few key details. Fortunately, these mods take care of those deficiencies, especially the flux band wires, or lack thereof. The oversized wires really fit well with the vehicle style and look like they came with the car.
